Silt Fence

Silt fence also known as a sediment control fence, is a temporary sediment control barrier that is used around the perimeter of construction sites. It is a quick and effective way of managing sediment runoff on construction sites to prevent sediment from entering waterways.
It is ideally used on construction sites to protect water quality in nearby streams, rivers and lakes from contamination by sediment or construction debris in storm water runoff. When installation, it is held up by wooden stakes or metal posts driven into the ground, so this product is inexpensive and recyclable.

Silt Fence
A High Quality UV stabilized woven polypropylene Silt Control Fabric to Prevent Sediment Runoff from Entering Waterways.
G-Tex® silt fence is made from UV stabilized, high tenacity polypropylene yarns that are woven to form a dimensionally stable network. This fabric is highly durable and provides excellent water flow and silt retention. They are available in heavy duty 105GSM in black, green or orange, roll sizes 0.87m x 50m, 0.87m x 100m. Other post sizes and profiles available on request.

Steep slope, retaining wall, embankment

G-Tex® silt fences are temporary barriers made of porous fabric, intended for retaining sediment and controlling erosion on construction sites. These fences are made of woven geotextile filter fabric, woven together to create sheets of material that offer incredible strength and a good level of permeability. It enables water to flow through while preventing sediment from flowing downhill. Wooden or steel posts spaced at regular intervals are used to support the fabric. Our sediment control fences are inexpensive, recyclable, and easy to install. There are many different options you can choose from depending on your application.

Frequently Asked Questions

1.What is the fabric for silt fence?
Silt fence is made out of synthetic filtration fabric, usually geotextile filter fabric, woven together to create sheets of material that offer incredible strength and a good level of permeability. It is a temporary barrier intended for retaining sediment and controlling erosion on construction sites.
2.How to properly install a silt fence?
Set the silt fence perpendicular to the slope of the land, curving the fence inward towards slope. Place the silt fence spaced away from the toe-of-slope, leaving enough room to accumulate sediment and to perform work.
3.Can water pass through a silt fence?
Water can seep through the silt fence fabric, but the fabric often becomes "blocked off" with fine soil particles (all sediment-retention devices have this challenge, and none of them "filter" storm water for very long).
4.What is an alternative to silt fence?
Silt socks also restrict the flow of storm water, allowing for deposition to occur. Additionally, the installation of silt socks is less labor intensive than a silt fence as it does not require trenching. Therefore, it can be placed directly on the ground or pavement.
