Geogrids are an engineered geosynthetics primarily used for soil stabilization and base reinforcement. They are made from polymer materials such as polypropylene (PP), polyester (PET) or high density polyethylene (HDPE) through extrusion, weaving or welding and feature a grid-like structure with vary strengths, strains and load-bearing capabilities.
Geogrids have a primary strength in one direction only (uniaxial geogrids) although in certain applications the strength may be equal in both directions of the product (biaxial geogrids). The open apertures of the geogrids confine materials within them, thereby increasing the shear strength of such materials.
