Geogrids

Optimal solutions for soil stabilization and base reinforcement
The basic function of geogrid is soil reinforcement, it works by interlocking with the granular or soil material placed over them. The mechanical properties of geogrid makes it ideal for reinforcing slopes and other soil structures. GeoTrans Technology manufactures a wide range of quality geogrids to fit each project's specific needs.

Composite Geogrids
An ideal combination of geogrid and geotextile for applications requiring separation, filtration and reinforcement.
G-Grid® CM series are geocomposites manufactured by geogrid heat bonded with needle punched nonwoven geotextile . Geogrid provides soil reinforcement and the nonwoven geotextile provides separation and filtration. The high elongation capacity of nonwoven geotextile ensures that the inter-locking ability between the composite geogrid and the filling material is not reduced and stress is transferred to the geogrid.

Applications

  • Retaining structures
  • Basal reinforcement
  • Piling platforms
  • Subgrade improvement

Features

  • Versatile
  • High tensile strength
Fiberglsas Geogrids
Special for the reinforcement of paved surfaces to prevent reflective cracking and reinforce asphalt pavements.
G-Grid® FG series are warp knitted by fiberglass yarns as per desired mesh sizes and strength, and coated with bitumen to provide a good bond with the asphalt layers. It can strengthen the asphalt layer, extend the service life of pavement layers and decrease the occurrence rate of reflective cracking under cyclic traffic load. The tensile strengths of Grid® fiberglass geogrids are from 20kN to 300kN, 40-25KN/m to 300-50KN/m at CD and MD directions.

Applications

  • Road maintenance/repair jobs
  • Road pavements, asphalt pavements

Features

  • Cost-effective
  • High tensile strength
  • High and low temperature resistance
PET Knitted Geogrids
Suitable for use in construction projects for further strengthening and soil stabilization.
G-Grid® PET series are knitted by high tenacity polyester yarns as per desired mesh sizes and strength, coated with a PVC or SBR coating to provide dimensional stability. G-Grid® PET geogrids are high strength, high tenacity in a full range of tensile strengths from 20kN/m to 1000KN/m, 40-25kN/m to 800-50kN/m at CD and MD directions.

Applications

  • Reinforcement of granular soils
  • Embankment reinforcement
  • Retaining structures
  • Slope reinforcement

Features

  • High tensile strength
  • Convenient to construct
PP Biaxial Geogrids
It makes soil reinforced with its excellent structure stability and strong mechanical interlock performance.
G-Grid® PP series are an integrally formed biaxial geogrids made of polypropylene through extrusion, punching and drawing. This material has considerable tensile strength in both longitudinal (MD) and transverse (CD) directions. This chain structure can effectively bear and diffuse forces on soft soil and is applicable to large area permanent load bearing foundation as reinforce. So that it can effectively avoid crack, collapse on the surface.

Applications

  • Pave or unpaved road construction
  • Garbage disposal engineering
  • Mining applications
  • Basal reinforcement

Features

  • High tensile strength in MD and CD directions
  • High chemical and biological resistance
Welded Geogrids
Widely applied on strengthening of soft foundation.
G-Grid® welded series are welded geogrids. It’s welded into “#” structure after adding reinforced fiber into PE, PP stretched ribs. They are divided into uniaxial and biaxial welded geogrids. This product has advantages of high tensile strength, low deformation ratio, anti-corrosion, long lifespan, easy installation and low costs. The geogrids could be laid levelly, and could meet the requirements of all kinds of permanent projects demanding more than 100 years.

Applications

  • Slopes
  • Roads
  • Landfills

Features

  • High tensile strength
  • Long lifespan
Used in
01 Earthwork Construction
Steep slope, retaining wall, embankment
02 Road Works
Road, railway, highway, pavement, airport runway, tunnel, bridge
03 Environmental Engineering
Landfill, tailing, waste water treatment
04 Marine Engineering
Seawall, breakwater, revetment, cofferdam
PP Biaxial Geogrid Geogrid for Soil Stabilization PET Knitted Geogrid Fiberglass Geogrid

Geogrids are an engineered geosynthetics primarily used for soil stabilization and base reinforcement. They are made from polymer materials such as polypropylene (PP), polyester (PET) or high density polyethylene (HDPE) through extrusion, weaving or welding and feature a grid-like structure with vary strengths, strains and load-bearing capabilities.

Geogrids have a primary strength in one direction only (uniaxial geogrids) although in certain applications the strength may be equal in both directions of the product (biaxial geogrids). The open apertures of the geogrids confine materials within them, thereby increasing the shear strength of such materials.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the function of geogrid?
The function is soil stabilization and base reinforcement.
2. How does geogrid works?
Geogrids work by interlocking with the aggregate and providing strength to the aggregate at a very low strain.
3. What is the deploying direction of geogrid?
Biaxial geogrids typically have the same resistance in both directions (roll direction and cross direction). They can therefore be installed in both directions. Uniaxial geogrids must be installed so that the tensile loads are applied along the roll length.
4.What is the application of geogrid?
Geogrids are primarily used for soil stabilization and base reinforcement, such as used in retaining wall, bridge abutments, steep slopes, embankments on soft subgrades, mining applications, roads, railways and pavement construction, etc.
